Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

Q: What does “Alma Tierra” mean?
A: Alma Tierra means “Soul of the Earth” in Spanish. Our work is rooted in the belief that healing is a return to self, community, and the wisdom of the land.

Q: Where are you based? Do I have to be in Tucson to work with you?
A: We're based in Tucson, Arizona, but offer many services online including spiritual counseling and select ceremonies. In-person offerings are currently held locally, but virtual options are expanding.

Q: What happens in a cacao ceremony or healing circle?
A: Each gathering is different, but you can expect guided grounding, sharing (optional), breathwork or meditation, and time to reflect. Everything is offered gently and with consent.

Q: Do I have to drink cacao to participate?
A: Not at all! Cacao is optional. The heart of the ceremony is connection—within yourself and the group.

Q: Are your events safe for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ folks?
A: Yes. We are proudly BIPOC- and LGBTQIA+-affirming and center inclusivity in all we do. Everyone deserves a safe place to heal.

Q: Can I bring my kids to a family session?
A: Yes. Family grounding sessions are designed to include children in a calm, playful, and connected way. We also offer parent-only sessions for deeper reflection.

Q: I’m a teacher. Can I benefit from this work?
A: Absolutely. Educators carry so much emotional labor. Our somatic tools are deeply supportive for those in caregiving or leadership roles.

Q: Is this therapy?
A: No. Spiritual counseling is not clinical therapy. It’s a heart-centered space offering intuitive support, emotional processing, and nervous system tools, but it does not replace licensed mental health treatment.

Q: Can I book just one session to try it out?
A: Yes! We offer single sessions and packages. A one-time session is a great way to explore what feels aligned for you.

Q: What’s your cancellation policy?
A: We honor life’s shifts. Please give at least 24 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Missed sessions without notice may be non-refundable.

Q: Do you offer sliding scale or payment plans?
A: Yes. We believe healing should be accessible. Many of our services offer a sliding scale option, and payment plans are available for packages.

Q: How do I stay updated on events?
A: Join our newsletter or follow us on Instagram @almatierratucson for upcoming circles, ceremonies, and new offerings.
